Meniere’s Diseases is an illness related to the inner ear that can affect both your hearing and your balance. It can affect different people in different ways, with varying degrees of intensity. You may have been told that there is no cure for Meniere’s Disease and, while that may be true, you don’t need to suffer with the dizziness, nausea and balance problems.
- Tinnitus (ringing of the ear)
- Feeling of “fullness” or increased pressure in the ear
A typical onset starts with the increased ear pressure plus increased tinnitus (which can be buzzing, roaring, hissing or whistling). Hearing may decreased and vertigo may increase, followed by nausea and vomiting. The episode may last 20 minutes to an hour, and then symptoms may improve or disappear. The episodes often happen in bunches, with periods in between of mild or no symptoms.
